Alternatives for Children (AFC), A non-profit educational institution, was relocated by TRITEC from Port Jefferson to an enlarged, modern facility in East Setauket, Long Island, New York. TRITEC worked with AFC for the second time, choosing a Design-Build project delivery method to meet their budget and schedule.

The 36,626 sq.ft. facility contains 26 classrooms, 18 bathrooms, 3,000 sq.ft. physical therapy/gymnasium, computer room, an administration wing with a kitchen, and various other specialty rooms. The property also includes a 4,000 sq.ft. outside playground with special flooring and fence. All spaces were constructed to meet AFC's unique demands that catered to their large population of children with special needs.
