LONG ISLAND, NY — Kevin Law, the former president of LIPA and the Long Island Association, has been nominated by Gov. Kathy Hochul to lead the Empire State Development Corporation.

Law, 60, has been incredibly active in the business and real estate world of Long Island, and has served on many different boards dedicated to growing the area.

"After the devastating impact the pandemic had on New York's economy, we need the best of the best at the helm to lead our recovery," Hochul said.

Empire State Development is a state-run initiative to grow New York's economy and encourage businesses to build and invest in the state. It also invests in local infrastructure and job-training programs to help make areas more appealing to businesses.
