Topping Out at Dealertrack

January 28 Chris Kelly

The TRITEC/Castagna team at 3400 New Hyde Park Road has reached a significant milestone, raising nearly the last piece of steel on the new Dealertrack Technologies building. The tradition of “topping out” traces its roots back to the Scandinavian countries; when building their homes, they would celebrate the setting of the last and highest wood beam. Part of today’s tradition is for the last beam to be painted white and signed. The beam is then raised and set place.
On the day of the topping out, Dealertrack employees were bussed from their existing facility 1.5 miles away to their future home at 3400 New Hyde Park Road. With a steady stream of employees signing the beam, it was quickly covered in signatures and well wishes for the future of the company. A banner was also signed by Dealertrack Technologies employees and attached to the steel. Dealertrack CEO, Mark F. O’Neil, gave the signal and everything was raised into place.
The completion of Dealertrack Technologies’ new 233,000 sq. ft. office building is expected in the second quarter of 2017.
