The Long Island Builders Institute (LIBI) recently named Jim Coughlan chairman of its membership committee. In this role, Jim will lead the association’s strategic efforts in membership invitations, retention and education and growth. Members find value in this industry association through networking and advocacy that help the industry as a whole and provide members opportunity to increase profitability.
Mr. Coughlan will leverage his more than 30-year career as a developer/builder to help expand LIBI’s membership of supplier, trade and construction professionals with companies in both commercial and residential real estate and construction. Jim is a Co-Principal of TRITEC Real Estate Company, a successful commercial real estate organization, and focuses on strategic direction, corporate marketing, and project delivery. He has overseen the site selection, acquisition, design, municipal entitlements, financing, joint venture structuring, construction and leasing/sales of millions of square feet of commercial and multi-family space.
“My primary focus as Membership Committee Chair is helping both new and existing members of LIBI understand and leverage the organization’s benefits,” said Jim Coughlan. “As a builder member, TRITEC counts on associate LIBI members to help advocate for our projects. Having knowledgeable champions in the communities where we work is invaluable. Builder Members are creating work across Long Island, our company alone is currently under construction with, or in the process of putting in place, $900 Million in projects. LIBI provides associates access to organizations like TRITEC, so they have new opportunities to win work. LIBI, through its CEO Mitch Pally, actively works on Government Relations to preserve, promote and protect the interests of the building industry on Long Island.”
I see the primary benefits to joining LIBI as:
• Opportunity to get more work for your organization.
• Opportunity to help Builder/Developers create or enhance wonderful communities across Long Island.
• Help shape the laws and regulations that govern our industry.
• Remain current on best practices within the Long Island development community
• Getting involved in Long Island Home Builders Care, Inc. (LIHBC). LIHBC members use their time and expertise in the field of construction and housing to help those in need and assistance.
Jim hopes to extend the sense of community that clearly exists between active LIBI members to new and prospective members. “Getting involved in this organization has so many benefits, some you see right away, and others build with time. If you think LIBI might be a good fit for your organization visit https://libi.org/join-us-2/.”
